First (and 7th) Brunch Club: The Kirk Cafe
A running diary of all our Brunch Club spots and the cafe's we'd love you to visit.
*Disclaimer, we do NOT get any kickback from supporting these cafes, these are genuine reviews of the places we know can handle dogs, the details of what they offer and why we love them.
What you'll find: Huge grassy area with tables and a lovely deck that is covered in in winter time, dogs allowed on the deck and grass areas, even inside if need be. Always offering water to the dogs who come to visit, Kersti and the staff genuinely love dogs at The Kirk! Their head chef Ben is a genius with food and presentation, always a work of art on your plate.
Can't go past: The French Toast is the most loaded and delectable french toast I've ever had, so many flavours and ingredients in one plate, you can't go past trying it, I order it almost every time we go, the ingredients change seasonally and it never disappoints. Great coffee and always friendly service. Some of the BEST brunch food on offer in the Waikato.
Open: 7.30am-2.30pm Weekdays, 8-3pm Sat, 9.30-3pm Sunday.
Often busy on weekends but plenty of shaded seating on the grass in summertime in the garden.
Handy to know: The Kirk cafe is at the River road end of Te Aroha Street, super handy to Memorial Park and the Waikato River paths, easy to park on the city side of the river and enjoy a nice walk around the bridges with your pooch and stop in for a coffee at the Kirk along the way! The Kirk cafe is on the same site as St Andrews Church, so be aware that Sunday mornings can mean a full carpark!
A few of the dogs from our Feb Brunch Club walk along the river after eating.
